But with Argentine youngster Mateo Bajamich looking set for a move elsewhere, we asked the scouting experts for the attacking alternatives Sunderland could target.
Using WyScout, we've searched for the forward players that the Black Cats could look to sign - based on the data that attracted them to Bajamich.
We've searched for players with the following traits, all of which are the same numbers possessed by Bajamich himself:
- 0.36 goals per 90 minutes
- 2.1 shots per 90 minutes
- 6.77 dribbles per 90 minutes
- 1.46 progressive runs per 90 minutes
- An xG of 0.32 per 90 minutes
- 0.21 assists per 90 minutes
And the scouting experts have thrown up some interesting names – scroll down to see who they have suggested:
1. Darko Churlinov
A Macedonian youth international, Churlinov has been a regular for Stuttgart in the Bundesliga II over the last twelve months and his statistics make him an attractive proposition for a number of clubs. He's averaging a goal every two games and is providing a number of assists, too. Photo: Matthias Hangst
2. Pedrinho (Athletico Paranaense)
The 20-year-old forward already has experience in Brazil's Serie A and in the Copa Libertadores, where he has registered some impressive statistics. Indeed, he's averaging a goal every three games already. Photo: Bruna Prado
3. Giorgi Kokhreidze (Saburtalo)
A Georgian youth international, Kokhreidze has generally played on the left flank but has also featured in a more central attacking role. His goal return is promising (he averages one every three games) but it's his pace and ability to stretch the backline which has caught the eye of many. Photo: JEAN-CHRISTOPHE VERHAEGEN
4. Yorbe Vertessen (Jong PSV)
The Belgian youth international currently plays for PSV's second string, where he's averaging 0.51 goals per game. He's direct and brings bags of pace - and is understood to be on the radar of the senior set-up of the Dutch giants. Photo: Matthew Lewis
