Hide AdSpeaking to Optus Sports’ GegenPod, he said: “I think we can agree that Steve Bruce is not the face of the richest club in the world.
“His style of play is probably not what they’re looking for, so when this goes through I’m sure they’ll be looking at someone with the right image, the right style and the right management of players.
“They’ll be looking to bring in big players so you need someone who can handle that and who has handled it in the past.
“It will be a very attractive job. I’m not a fan of Newcastle, but they have a great atmosphere and the fans just need a spark - then it will be a party atmosphere up there.”

Hide AdHis views were echoed by former Sunderland and Newcastle striker Michael Bridges, who has called for a manager with connections and kudos to be appointed to the St James’s Park hotseat.
