As part of its 75th anniversary celebrations, Bishopwearmouth Choral Society is hosting a Come and Sing Day at Sunderland Minster.

Hide AdIt will take place on Saturday, May 18 from 2pm to 5pm and all are welcome to attend.
The session will be managed by the society’s Musical Director, David Murray, and professional opera singer, Anne-Marie Owens.
Music on the day will include David Murray’s own arrangements of the Great American Songbook, which ranges from Gershwin and Kern to Simon and Garfunkel and James Taylor.
Anne-Marie, from South Shields, has performed with many of the world’s great opera companies, with orchestras including London Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, Detroit Symphony Orchestra and the BBC Symphony Orchestra.

Hide AdMeanwhile, David has been recognised as one of the North East’s most acclaimed pianists.
He is also well known as permanent conductor and Musical Director of Bishopwearmouth Choral Society and Hexam Abbey Festival Chorus
He continues to teach privately and is Head of Keyboard Studies at the University of Newcastle.
Made up of more than 50 singers, who perform three concerts a year, Bishopwearmouth Choral Society is the longest continually running choral society in the North East.
- The cost for the Come and Sing Day is £10 and musical scores will be provided free of charge. Tickets are available from www.bishopwearmouth.co.uk and are available on the day at the venue.
