The Washington schoolgirl, 11, using her daily exercise to raise money for the NHS
Kara Ward, a pupil at Oxclose Primary School in Washington, wanted a way to keep active during lockdown and also support key workers at the NHS.
The kindhearted schoolgirl decided to use her daily exercise to start running, and came up with the idea of running a mile a day for the NHS.

Kara’s Mum, Joanne Ward, 38, said she is extremely proud of her daughter and has been encouraging her every step of the way.
She said: “I am one of the proudest parents for her doing this. Every penny she raises goes directly to the NHS from her just giving page. She is one of the most selfless people I know.
“There are so many people that need help during these tough times and we all need to look after each other.”
