Emma Carr and David Watson had spent months planning their special day which was sadly postponed because of the lockdown measures.
But not to let the current situation get them down, the Northumberland couple held a special ceremony in their garden to mark what would have been their wedding day – but what was also their fifth anniversary as a couple.

The 23-year-old bride-to-be said: “A lot of people thought it was really lovely and it put a smile on people’s faces - especially our grandparents.
“I thought it would be nice to share our story and maybe it might make others smile too.”
Emma said at first she was ‘devastated’ that the wedding was pushed back but tried to remain positive.

“Everything that was going on we knew there was a good chance it may not go ahead.
“We had to make the decision to move the wedding date or potentially lose it all together – we’re now due to get married in September.
“April 11 was a day we would have celebrated anyway with it being our anniversary too. We decided to host our own little ceremony in the garden and tried to make everything a bit more light-hearted.

“I got a bunch of flowers from the garden as a bouquet and we had a picnic. We only moved in after buying the house in November and it was the first sunny day we had in the garden together. It a was lovely.”
Emma and David, 27, were due to get married at St Mary’s Church in Morpeth before a reception at Riverside Lodge.
The Stakeford couple are now hoping to tie the knot in September and are looking to move their honeymoon, which was due to be in June, too.
