A Sunderland man faces a trial by jury accused of attempted murder after an alleged street attack.

Danny Stothard has pleaded not guilty to an offence of attempting to murder Robert Tullick in January.

The 28, of Primrose Street, Sunderland, appeared at Newcastle Crown Court on Friday, February 28.

A trial has been listed on June 29.

Judge Penny Moreland remanded Stothard in custody in the meantime.

Police had been called to Claxheugh Road, South Hylton, shortly before 4.30pm, after a report a man had been assaulted in the street.

They found Mr Tullick, 29, unconscious with serious head injuries.
