Appeal launched after two women allegedly snatch £90 from man in wheelchair at Sunderland bus stop

The vulnerable 44-year-old man is said to have been left ‘shaken’ by the suspected robbery which took place at a bus stop outside of The Point in Holmeside, just before 12.30pm on Thursday, June 17.
Northumbria Police initially reported that the incident happened inside the Baker’s Oven in Holmeside but have since issued an update.

Hide AdThe victim immediately contacted police following his ordeal where he described how the two women ‘forcibly’ took the £90 in cash from him.
Officers launched an investigation and two women, aged 36 and 28, were soon located and arrested on suspicion of robbery. They remain in police custody at this time.
Officers believe there were a number of people who stopped to assist the victim in the aftermath, as well as witnesses to the incident, and are keen to speak with these people as they could help with the investigation.
Northumbria Police Detective Constable Mark Druce said: “Our CCTV enquiries have shown there were a number of people in the area at the time of the incident, some of who stopped to offer assistance and support and we are keen to speak with them about what they might have seen in order to further our investigation.
