Here's the top-rated hotels in the city, according to Trip Advisor reviews.
5. The Travelodge in Low Row
Travelodge in Low Row has an ideal location if you're in the city centre for a show at the Empire or other events. The most recent review reads: "Room was clean, warm and comfortable. Location is very central, although we did have some overnight outside noise due to facing a main road. Did not spoil our trip though. The price of room was very reasonable considering you are in a central location with plenty of restaurants and shops. Would stay here again."
6. Roker Hotel, Roker
Another seafront hotel, Roker Hotel was taken over by new owners last year. "We stayed Friday 9th feb. We had a lovely welcome and a quick check in. Our room was lovely, was a little smaller but was very cosy. Was just a bit warm during the night but you can’t please everyone with the temperature of a room. Very comfy bed and lovely biscuits! The hotel itself is lovely, with a great bar and restaurant area and breakfast the next day was fab," said one visitor.
7. Holiday Inn, Keel Square
One of the city's newest hotels, so it hasn't received as many reviews as the others, Holiday Inn at Keel Square is at number seven. One impressed visitor said: "The hotel is all your need and more, perfect location for getting around the town centre and if you’re visiting for the Theatre that’s less than a 5 minute walk away.
All the staff from house keeping to the breakfast team and reception were all brilliant and met a very high standard in customer service.
The breakfast was honestly the best we have had in any hotel staff and the hotel needs to credit their chef as he’s fantastic."
